Grit

24 Jul

A man wakes up to find the last three days of his life are gone. He is confused, scared, and paralyzed from the waist down. The only clues to what happened are his fragmented memory and the grit covering his body.

An indifferent ex-wife, a paranoid housekeeper, and a bitter doctor all try their best to get to the truth behind this mystery. At the same time, they are all suspects. In the end, though, it’s up to Manny make himself remember.

“Remember the grit,” he hears. “Remember the grit.”

Write script 24 Jun

I’ve been using the program Celtx to write the script in. I really like it. I like it much better than Final Draft, which people have to pay for. People who aren’t me or Bob. hehe.

The script is going well. It is moving at a nice pace, I think, but (then again) I have never written a screenplay, and I am not sure what sort of pace it should have.

So how about you lay off, okay?

Write script (2) 28 Jul

So, I recently had a brainstorm. An entirely new synopsis for the movie came to me. In fact, I scrapped everything about the old story and have begun developing this new one instead.

I’ve decided to keep the movie name, character names, and the fact that I number the days. Besides that, nothing is the same. I will hold onto the other Grit, in case I decide to get passionate about it, but I really wasn’t into that story. I just didn’t have the confidence that it could be funny like it I want it to be.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the directing, too. I’ve been studying Wes Anderson and I’ve taken away a couple of his shots that I’d like to use. I should also bone up on Hitchcock and Kubrick and take something away from them.

The new film is a psychological thriller. You’re not going to know who shot him until the end. I’ve written out, and plan on filming, Days One, Two and Three. The significance of this is that we only experience those days in his flash backs and dreams. And then we only see them in a mutated form. Still, I think it’s important that I see how those three days play out before I chop them into pieces and mix them around. Plus, that’ll be something extra for the DVD… or something.
